Marylyn Susanne Reed

Savannah, GA – Marylyn Susanne Reed died at her daughter's home in Savannah on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Helen M. Vollette.
Marylyn graduated from South High School in Grand Rapids and met her husband Morton L. Reed, Jr. while both were attending Grand Rapids Jr. College. They were married July 2, 1944.
The family moved to Rockville, MD in 1961. Marylyn worked in medical administration, retiring as Medical Staff Secretary at Suburban Hospital in 1991. After retiring, Marylyn and Mort moved to Talbot County, Maryland. Marylyn was an avid bridge player and was actively involved with community organizations including The Talbot County Women's Club, The Izaak Walton League and St. Mark's United Methodist Church
Marylyn is survived by her husband of 69 years, Mort, of Savannah, GA, her daughter Barbara Wilson Mike of Savannah, her sons Jim Cindy of Oxford, Bob Barb Calhoun of Ellicott City and Rick Bridget of Silver Spring, her brother Don Phoenix AZ, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents Marylyn was preceded in death by two brothers; Edward Vollette and John Vollette.
A memorial service to celebrate Marylyn's life will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, in Easton Maryland, at 3pm on Saturday, November 16, 2013. The Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Savannah or St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

I was very saddened to hear of Marylyn's death. I have known her since elementary school and she was such a wonderful person and friend. My sympathy goes to Mort and her family. Fondly, Donna Wyatt
